The limestone mine at Rajashree Cement Works, our integrated cement factory in Karnataka, was recently conferred with the prestigious Sita Ram Rungta Social Awareness Award 2020 by Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI). This award recognizes the social work done in the nearby villages (in and around the mining area) and the corporate social responsibility programs run by the factory teams which contribute to the general upliftment and well-being of various stakeholders.
Rajashree Cement Works has won the award for various programs initiated by the factory including health check-ups, infrastructural advancement, cattle vaccination camps, personal hygiene awareness camps, and training programs for farmers. The factory team also initiated a project for training local women to make incense sticks to help them become financially independent.
The award motivates and recognizes the efforts of the mining industry in addressing multi-dimensional issues in an exemplary manner. The watershed project run by the factory team in collaboration with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) gained special praise from the jury at the forum. The systemic mining approach towards usage of land under the mining lease and assistance provided to the landowners for their livelihood through organized programs has created goodwill for the company in the local vicinity of the factory.
