Three ready mix concrete (RMC) plants of UltraTech Cement have received the prestigious GreenPro Certification from the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Indian Green Building Council. These three plants include Medchal in Hyderabad, Pawane in Navi Mumbai and Wagholi in Pune. These three plants manufacture a range of specialty concretes which meet specific functional requirements for a variety of applications. These include Litecon, Freeflow Plus, UltraTech Plus, Pervious, Hypercon, and DuraPlus. The specialty concretes manufactured at these plants will from now on be certified as green products. These products ensure sustainable practices including reduction in usage of cement, reduction of CO2 emissions, energy conservation and preservation of natural resources.
GreenPro certification testifies that the product which bears the GreenPro label is environment-friendly throughout its life cycle. This certification empowers an environmentally-conscious customer in making an informed choice to buy products that are environment-friendly. One of the main objectives of this certification is to facilitate market transformation of green products in India. The certification process follows a holistic framework, where the 'greenness' of the product is assessed and the way forward for it to achieve excellence in environmental performance is highlighted.
