28th November 2017, Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail, the world's largest public-private partnership project (PPP) in the metro sector, was today inaugurated in the presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
UltraTech Cement Limited, the largest manufacturer of grey cement, white cement, and ready-mix concrete in India, is the ‘principal partner’ in supplying cement and concrete to this prestigious project. UltraTech has supplied more than four lakh metric tonne (MT) of grey cement to the project.
Developed by L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited, the project involves construction of around 72 km of elevated metro rail in three corridors crisscrossing the city of Hyderabad. The inaugural 30-km stretch is made up of sections of two different intersecting corridors that connect two ends of the city. The project is set to get operational on the Miyapur-Ameerpet (13 km) segment of Corridor-I and Ameerpet-Nagole (17 km) segment of Corridor-III.
