The Aditya Birla Group of companies donate Baht 3.5 million for housing in Chiang Mai, Thailand

 

The Aditya Birla Group of companies in Thailand today gave a donation of Baht 3.5 million to Habitat for Humanity, as BRONZE Level Sponsor at the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, The Mekong Build 2009.

 

The Aditya Birla Group of companies in Thailand include –; Thai Rayon Public Company Limited, Thai Carbon Black Public Company Limited, Indo Thai Synthetics Company Limited, Thai Acrylic Fibre Company Limited, Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand) Limited and Thai Peroxide Company Limited.

 

As the BRONZE Level Sponsor of the Jimmy Carter Project, the Aditya Birla Group in Thailand will be supporting Habitat –; Aditya Birla Housing Projects in Thailand and Mekong Region during 2010.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. P. M. Bajaj, the Group’s Country Head in Thailand said that the Aditya Birla Group has been involved with Habitat for over six years. He added that “while we have just launched our partnership in Thailand, in India we have built more than 350 houses as part of our community outreach programme. Apart from this our Group has contributed US $ 750,000/- (Rs. 35 million) to help Habitat build 1,550 houses across India. In Thailand as well, we feel that we need to work for housing the underprivileged. Our vision is to make a qualitative difference to the lives of the underprivileged through housing and vocational training programmes. While we will work with Habitat to build decent and affordable houses for people, we are also setting up the Aditya Birla Knowledge Centre in Saraburi, Thailand”.

 

Mr. Bajaj stated that - the Aditya Birla Group has been in Thailand for over 40 years and is deeply committed to the country’s forward march to prosperity. “We look upon ourselves as partners in the progress of Thailand” commented Mr. Bajaj.

 

Cement production for the month of October 2009 rose by 12.46 per cent at 29.34 lakh mt. Dispatches are up by 11.13 per cent at 28.19 lakh mt over October 2008.
