ss

UltraTech has been recognised as the winner in the “Circular Business Model -Matured category” within the Indian cement industry at the first-ever Global Symposium and Awards on Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy. Hosted by FICCI on March 24-25, 2025, in New Delhi, the theme of the symposium was “Scaling Resource Efficiency & Circular Economy: Pathway for Global Sustainability.”

The Company showcased exceptional resource utilisation and significant contributions to enhancing Resource Efficiency and the Circular Economy through innovative initiatives, digitalisation, and technology interventions. The chief guest, Mr Ved Prakash Mishra, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change presented the award.

The circularity of materials is a priority for UltraTech in tackling the issue of overutilisation of resources, the rising cost of natural raw materials and disposal of waste generated from it. Through the use Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials (AFR) in its manufacturing processes, UltraTech helps reduce the use of natural resources as well as reduces waste to landfills, thus conserving natural resources and reducing adverse environmental impacts.

In FY24, UltraTech utilised 33.64 million tonnes of recycled and alternative raw materials in its cement production.  UltraTech collaborates with over 80 municipal corporations across India to safely co-process incinerable non-biodegradable municipal waste through advanced technologies. In FY24 alone, UltraTech utilised 4.97 lakhs tonnes of industrial waste, 5.41 lakhs tonnes of agro-waste and 5.43 lakhs tonnes of municipal solid waste as alternative fuel in its kiln operations and captive power plants. These efforts have led to UltraTech becoming 3.4 times plastic negative in FY24.
