The jetty attached to Ratnagiri Cement Works, a grinding unit of UltraTech Cement Limited, successfully completed its transition to using 100% renewable energy for its operations.  The jetty, based in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, has been sourcing renewable energy from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) since August 2022.

The remote location of the jetty and it being operational for only nine months a year made the journey to renewable energy adoption a challenging one. Thanks to the peerless efforts by the team at the unit, the jetty was certified by the MSEDCL for being powered by 100% renewable energy. With an average monthly energy consumption of 11670 kWh, the jetty’s move to green energy saves approximately 9,604 kg of carbon dioxide emissions per month.

With this transition, Ratnagiri Cement Works has helped to contribute to UltraTech Cement’s overall commitment to mitigating climate change by lowering CO2 emissions. As part of its RE100 commitment, UltraTech aims to meet 100% of its electricity requirement through renewable sources by 2050.
