THE RIGHT WAY TO DO SHUTTERING

The strength of a home comes from its concrete. Formwork helps in giving shape and strength to the concrete. Shuttering or formwork is the process of giving support and stability to the concrete before it becomes solid. The shuttering is commonly made using wood and steel. Step No.1

Always use good quality shuttering material, with the thickness being at least 3 inches.

Step No.2

Remember, before you put the concrete in, apply oil or grease to the shuttering. This way, the concrete doesn't stick and the shuttering can come off easily

Step No.3

Always ensure there are no gaps in the shuttering so that the mixture doesn't leak

Step No.4

Remove the shuttering only after the concrete is set completely.

Step No.5

Shuttering must be kept for at least 16 hours. It is better to keep it for 24 hours.

Step No.6

Shuttering must be removed carefully. Otherwise, the concrete might get damaged.
