Substructure
What is Substructure?
In construction, the substructure refers to the portion of a building situated below ground level, providing the necessary support for the structure above. It includes the foundation, basement, and all other components that help distribute the load of the building evenly to the ground.
In simple terms, the substructure is the backbone of the building, ensuring its stability and longevity. Formwork, used during construction, is a temporary structure designed to shape concrete and ensure it sets correctly in the desired form.
