Sustainable Livelihoods

Rural India faces a slew of socio-economic issues which affect their progress and quality of life. Apart from the problem of illiteracy and poor health, there is also lack of gainful employment. Though rural India is predominantly engaged in agriculture, the youth seek non-agriculture related opportunities. Lack of education and skills have proved to be an impediment in seeking these opportunities. Thus, activities are carried out to support both agricultural needs such as improved productivity and crops, vocational skills for youths as well as supporting Animal Husbandry. The activities are aligned to SDG 1 of ‘No Poverty’, SDG 2 of ‘Zero Hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture’, and SDG 8 of ‘decent work and economic growth’.
