The full form of PSC in cement is Portland Slag Cement. Portland cement is created by heating a limestone and clay combination to high temperatures in kilns, resulting in pebble-sized solids known as clinker. The clinker is finely processed to produce Portland Cement. Portland Slag Cement is a combination of Portland cement and blast furnace slag.
How is the PSC cement made?
Materials containing lime, silica, alumina, and iron oxide are mixed.
This mixture is heated to extremely high temperatures in a kiln to produce Portland clinker.
Portland cement clinker is made by grinding granulated slag and adding natural or artificial gypsum or calcium sulphate.
The slag ingredient should be between 25% and 65% by mass of Portland Slag Cement.
Benefits of PSC Cement
Portland Slag Cement is resistant to sulphates and chloride.
Slag created during iron smelting is recycled and used to build cement.
PSC cement also reduces lime leaching. Lime leaching occurs when extra water seeps from cement.
It provides better workability.
Slag cement also resists weathering harm.
